MARION, INDIANA, Friday, January 10th, 2020 – At the start of a new calendar year, the Growth Council welcomes new changes to its Board of Directors. Brett Carey, Market President of STAR Bank, retires as President, after having served two years in the role; Anne Duncan, Owner of Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, takes on the role of President in 2020; and Ashley Savieo, Economic Development and Business Manager for American Electrical Power, will serve as President Elect. After serving two years on the Board of Directors, Ashley has been elected to become President in 2021. Ashley is a Certified Economic Developer, with experience in both county and utility economic development. She offers years of industry knowledge and experience as well as a regional perspective. Last year, Ashley was selected by Consultant Connect as one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers.

Additionally, the Growth Council welcomes one brand new board member: Mia Erickson. As a Grant County native and resident as well as the Senior Vice President of Whitnell & Co., Mia couples decades of experience in wealth management and financial planning with extensive local knowledge and network. Mia’s professional experience expands across a national audience; just this year, Mia published an article with Forbes Finance Council.

Each year, the Growth Council’s mission is supported by a diverse Board of Directors that assist in guiding, driving, and steering the mission of the organization. With a six-member Executive Board and an additional twenty-nine individuals serving on the full Board of Directors, the Growth Council incorporates influences from all across Grant County, from business leaders to elected officials to educators.
