Full Speed Ahead

The Growth Council is known for operating at the speed of business. Even in a pandemic there are businesses expanding, which means the Growth Council is right there to help! Both Modern Machine in Van Buren and Wiley Metal in Marion received local tax abatements for equipment improvements in January. Ed Wiley recently thanked the Growth Council for the needed support: Wiley Metal has been in Marion since 1982. In our 38 years in business the Growth Council has been there to support us in multiple projects and in many ways. The Growth Council is always on top of any new programs to support local manufacturing companies and not only make us aware of the many different programs but actually help us through the process of understanding and accessing information and funds to support our businesses. The latest example was this week as you and the Growth Council helped guide us through the tax abatement process and to get approved by the Marion City Council for tax abatement on the new state of the art manufacturing equipment Wiley Metal is in the process of purchasing. The tax abatement certainly helps us with this type of purchase. It keeps us competitive in this ever-changing world. We will increase our employment in the community and plan to continue to grow in Marion into the next generation of management.
