Taylor University and Grant County Economic Growth Council Collaborate to Launch Job Search Series

In November 2022, the Grant County Economic Growth Council worked with students at Taylor University to create a job search series. What started solely as a student resource, turned into a workforce development tool valuable for all ages entering or transitioning into the workforce. The completed series features videos and resources designed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s job market and is accessible to everyone on our website

Finding a job can be a challenge, especially in today’s ever-changing economy. With insights from businesses in the community, leading sources in the industry, and our executive director Charity, the development series covers a range of topics for anyone in the community to learn about resume writing, interviewing, job fair tips, the first day on the job, etc. Whether you’re just starting your job search, or you’ve been on the hunt for a while, this series aims to help job seekers develop the skills they need to build successful careers.

What you can expect from the Job Search Series:

  • Resume Writing: Our series includes videos and resources that will help you craft a winning resume that highlights your skills and experience.

  • Interviewing: We’ll show you how to prepare you for an interview, what to expect during the interview, and how to make a great impression.

  • Job Fairs: We’ll provide tips on how to make the most out of these events, including how to prepare ahead of time, what to wear, and how to effectively communicate with employers.

  • First Day on the Job: The series will provide guidance on how to make a good first impression, navigate the new environment, effectively communicate with colleagues, and how to set yourself up for success in your new role.

As the workforce is ever changing, we hope this series and other initiatives helps prepare the next generation of talent in kickstarting their career in Grant County. “The Growth Council wants to bring awareness to the opportunities that are available in the community, and to encourage job seekers of all ages to go after the things they want whole heartedly,” said James Beyioku, GCEGC Project Manager.
