Peerless Machine celebrates 100th Anniversary

MARION, INDIANA – Peerless Machine & Tool Corporation, manufacturer of paper plate forming machinery and tooling, celebrated its 100th anniversary with employees, retirees, and their families gathering at The Gardens of Matter Park in Marion, Indiana on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

“When my great grandfather, John Carson, started Peerless in 1922 as a little machinery repair shop with six employees, I doubt he envisioned the company looking like it does today, 100 years later,” Jeff Carson, Peerless’s President from 1995 to 2019, told the crowd.  “Peerless has a lot to be thankful for and has been blessed with opportunity in a market that should continue to see the company prosper for a long time forward.”

Peerless began as a family business and continued as such for four generations before converting to a 100% employee-owned firm through the creation of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan in 2017.  “Peerless has been lucky to have talented leaders and employees who have served the company throughout its history, and who have worked and continue to work hard to serve our customers and advance our vision,” said Shane Carey, Peerless’s current President.  “We believe our employees are our greatest asset.”

Since its early days as a machinery repair shop, Peerless has grown to be the global leader of equipment for the paper converting industry, producing machinery and tooling for the production of paper plates and trays with a presence in over 40 countries.  As Peerless celebrates its 100-year anniversary, it is proud of its relationships with its valued and long-standing customers, its impact on the local community, and producing a product that has reached a worldwide marketplace.
